Two men from Bromley were killed in a daylight stabbing at Southwark business site; the suspect was charged
A man has been charged with the murders of a father and son following a fatal stabbing inside a business premises in central London.
The victims, Terry McMillan, 58, and his 27-year-old son Brendan McMillan, both from Chislehurst in Bromley, were attacked at a commercial property on Long Lane, Southwark. The incident occurred at approximately 1pm on 28 July, prompting a swift emergency response.
Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports of stabbings inside the premises. Despite the efforts of medical teams, both men were pronounced dead. The double killing has shocked the local community, particularly as it took place in the middle of the day in a busy commercial area.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that 31-year-old Hassan Cevik has been charged with both murders. He is expected to appear in court in the coming days to face the allegations. Details of the circumstances surrounding the attack have not yet been released, but the force has stated that it remains a live investigation.

Forensic teams were seen working at the property for hours following the attack, with parts of Long Lane cordoned off as police gathered evidence.

Brendan, who was in his twenties, was remembered locally as “polite, respectful, and well-liked.”
In the days after the attack, floral tributes were placed near the scene, and messages of condolence flooded social media from people who knew the pair. Some noted that the father and son were often seen together and shared a close bond, making their violent deaths all the more harrowing.
Police have urged anyone with information to come forward. Detectives believe there may be witnesses who have yet to speak to officers and are appealing to members of the public who were in the area at the time to assist with the investigation.
“This was a shocking incident that has resulted in the tragic deaths of two men from the same family,” a police spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. We are committed to securing justice for them and will continue to follow every line of enquiry.”
The attack adds to a string of high-profile violent incidents in the capital this summer, renewing concerns about knife crime in London. Community leaders in Southwark have called for increased safety measures and greater support for initiatives aimed at tackling violence.
Hassan Cevik remains in custody and will face formal proceedings in court. The Met Police has not confirmed whether they are seeking any further suspects in connection with the stabbings. The motive for the attack has not been made public.
As the investigation continues, the deaths of Terry and Brendan McMillan stand as a chilling reminder of the devastating impact of knife violence on families and communities.
