Justin Mohn, a 32-year-old man from Levittown, Pennsylvania, has been arrested after allegedly decapitating his own father, Michael, 68, and then showcasing the severed head on YouTube. Mohn reportedly believes he is the “second messiah” and is deeply entrenched in QAnon-style conspiracy theories.
The gruesome incident unfolded at their Levittown home, resulting in Michael’s tragic death. In a disturbing 14-minute video posted on YouTube, Mohn brandished his father’s severed head. The video, which remained online for six hours after its initial upload, included a tirade against President Biden and called on people to oppose an “army of illegal immigrants.”
In the video, Mohn identified his father as a federal employee of over 20 years and declared him a “traitor to his country” who is now condemned to “hell for eternity.” He advocated for violence as the only solution to what he perceived as the federal government’s “treason.”
Mohn, who had previously been dismissed from a job in Colorado for forcibly opening an officer’s door, returned to live with his parents, sharing their £300,000 home with his siblings Zachary, 35, and Stephanie, 38.
Despite graduating with a degree in business management from Penn State in 2014, Mohn has struggled to secure stable employment over the past decade. During this time, he self-published eight books that he claimed aimed to “bring positive change to the world.” One of his books, titled ‘The Second Messiah,’ he loosely based on himself.
Mohn also released multiple tracks on Spotify in which he sang about his financial struggles, challenges as a white man, and blamed his father for hindering his success.
Police were alerted to the incident when they received a call around 7 pm local time, approximately 90 minutes after the video was shared online. Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered Michael’s lifeless body in the bathroom. Mohn was subsequently arrested around 9 pm, located two hours away from his home.
In the video, Mohn claimed that “many” considered him the messiah and desired him as the president. He ranted about taxes, alleged that the economy was near collapse, and criticised the “traitorous Biden regime” for sending the American military overseas. His conspiracy theories align with those of the far-right QAnon movement, which gained prominence in 2017.
Mohn also offered a $1 million reward to anyone who could assassinate government officials, including FBI Director Christopher Wray, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and former Attorney General Bill Barr. In 2020, he attempted to sue the U.S. government for $10 million, contending that he should have been forewarned about his difficulties securing employment as an “overeducated white man” and repaying his student loans. The lawsuit was dismissed in 2022.
Mohn was photographed smirking in his mugshot after being charged with first-degree murder and abusing a corpse. Chief Joe Bartorilla of the Middletown Police Department expressed that Mohn is well-known in the community and that they had received numerous calls from individuals concerned about the situation.
