In a shocking turn of events, Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury, known for his reported £250,000 splurge on cars in a single day, now faces charges of drink driving. The 26-year-old footballer was apprehended by police in the early hours of Friday in Nottingham.
It is reported that Choudhury, refusing a breathalyser test at the scene, was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while over the alcohol limit, driving without due care and attention, and failing to cooperate with a preliminary test. Currently out on bail, he is scheduled to appear in court on February 23.

The midfielder, residing in Rushcliffe, Nottingham, has faced previous controversies, including a £250,000 car spree in 2022, earning him a reputation for his lavish lifestyle. With a reported weekly income of £50,000, Choudhury’s career took a hit when Leicester City was relegated to the Championship last year.
Once considered a potential contender for the England national team, Choudhury’s off-field behaviour has drawn criticism in the past. In 2021, he and three teammates faced repercussions for attending a party during a Covid lockdown, while in 2019, he was fined £5,000 by the FA and mandated to undergo training after offensive social media posts from an earlier period surfaced.
A Nottingham Police spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, ‘Officers pulled over a vehicle in Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, around 1.45 am on Friday 19 January 2024. Hamza Choudhury, aged 26, of Rushcliffe, Nottinghamshire, has since been charged.’
Leicester City FC has chosen not to provide comments on the matter. Stay tuned for further developments as Choudhury navigates the legal aftermath of the recent charges.
