Michael Angarano directs and stars alongside Kristen Stewart, Michael Cera, and Maya Erskine in ‘Sacramento,’ premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival

Kristen Stewart’s ‘Sacramento,’ a buddy comedy that promises laughter and heartfelt moments is the next view to be vigilant about if you are a Kristen Stewart fan. Directed by Michael Angarano, who also stars in the film, ‘Sacramento’ is set to make its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, running from June 5 to June 16.

The film features an ensemble cast including Michael Cera, known for his roles in ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’ and ‘Arrested Development,’ and Maya Erskine of ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ fame. ‘Sacramento’ explores the rekindled friendship between two former best friends, Ricky and Glenn, as they take a spontaneous road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. The official synopsis hints at an original take on the buddy comedy genre, infused with adventure and the unpredictability of reuniting with an old friend.

A first-look image released shows the four leads in a casual, sunlit setting, capturing a moment of connection and divergence as Stewart’s character, Ricky, looks thoughtfully to the side, possibly hinting at the deeper themes the film will explore.

Kristen Stewart’s involvement in ‘Sacramento’ follows her recent role in ‘Love Lies Bleeding,’ a queer romance that has garnered strong reviews for its intense performances and provocative storytelling. The film’s release in the UK is eagerly anticipated on May 3.

Stewart, who has been candid about her personal life and sexuality, especially highlighted during her 2017 ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance, brings a raw and genuine approach to her roles. In ‘Sacramento,’ she continues to explore complex characters, offering audiences a glimpse into the intricacies of friendship and personal growth.

As ‘Sacramento’ prepares for its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival, anticipation builds for what is expected to be a compelling addition to the buddy comedy canon. With a talented cast and Angarano’s dual role as director and actor, the film aims to offer a fresh perspective on the joys and challenges of reconnection.
