Despite royal tensions, King Charles won’t strip Harry and Meghan of titles, hoping for a future reunion.
King Charles still holds onto hope for a reconciliation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—despite growing tensions and a fresh controversy surrounding Meghan’s new identity.
In her recently released Netflix series With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex made a bold statement about her name. While speaking to actress Mindy Kaling, Meghan corrected her for using “Meghan Markle,” insisting she now goes by “Meghan Sussex.”

Royal author Phil Dampier weighed in on the situation, revealing that King Charles is unlikely to retaliate by revoking her and Harry’s titles. According to Dampier, the King remains reluctant to take such drastic action, as he still hopes to mend his fractured relationship with his son.
“I doubt King Charles would like Meghan making references to the importance of Sussex as her name,” Dampier told The Sun. “But I’ve always felt he’s reluctant to start any process of stripping her and Harry of their titles.”
He added, “It would be difficult to do, and he doesn’t want to make the rift any worse, hoping one day there might be a reconciliation with his son.”
The Royal Family’s tensions with the Sussexes have been well-documented over the years, with Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare and Meghan’s past interviews adding fuel to the fire. While King Charles has reportedly been open to mending fences, insiders suggest Prince William is far less forgiving.
With Meghan’s latest branding move, speculation has reignited over whether the Sussexes are intentionally maintaining their royal ties for status and influence. However, the King appears determined to keep the door open—at least for now.
