Nightmare getaway turns tragic as grandmother sues Airline over vacation slip

A relaxing holiday took a nightmarish turn for 61-year-old Pauline Taylor when she suffered gruesome facial injuries in a poolside accident. Now, she is taking legal action against easyJet in pursuit of compensation.

While enjoying a stay at the luxurious Pestana Royal in Madeira, Portugal, with her husband Mark, 60, last March, Pauline’s peaceful getaway turned into a nightmare. Exiting the pool after a morning aqua aerobics class, she slipped on tiles she claims were “awash with water.”

The fall resulted in a horrifying ordeal for Pauline, as she shattered her eye socket, cheekbone, and wrist. Her injuries were so severe that she required reconstructive surgery on her face and a metal plate in her arm.

Recalling the traumatic incident, Pauline, from Bury, Gtr Manchester, said, “The next thing I know, I’m on the floor, and there’s blood streaming from my face, and I’m in agony. It was so sudden.”

She added, “The whole of my eye socket was a mess of bone and debris, and my cheekbone was utterly smashed.”

Pauline, now seeking compensation for her ordeal, stated, “I’ve been to hell and back.”

EasyJet, the airline being sued, refrained from commenting on the ongoing legal action.

As Pauline fights for justice, the shocking incident raises questions about the safety standards at vacation destinations and the responsibility of travel service providers to ensure the well-being of their patrons.
