In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 20-year-old woman named Morgan Ribeiro passed away following weight-loss surgery in Turkey, a decision she made after enduring years of weight-related bullying. In a chilling TikTok post just days before her surgery, Morgan shared, ‘My last post before weight loss surgery – see you on the other side!’

Morgan and her 19-year-old boyfriend, James Brewster, opted for a £2,500 gastric sleeve surgery in Turkey to avoid the lengthy NHS waiting lists. Despite being given the all-clear after the January 5 procedure, Morgan fell seriously ill on the flight back home, slipping into septic shock. The plane made an emergency landing in Serbia, where doctors discovered that her small intestine had been cut during the surgery, leading to a fatal infection that claimed her life.

Heartbroken, Morgan’s mother, Erin Gibson, 44, is now raising £10,000 to bring her daughter’s body back home. In a cautionary message to others, Ms. Gibson shared her concerns, stating, ‘I had that sinking feeling because I’d heard horror stories about Turkey. I never ever want this to happen to another daughter. I don’t want her life to be in vain.’
