Glasgow police investigate murder after body found in home

James Jarvis, 55, was discovered dead in a property on Monar Street, with police launching a murder investigation and appealing for information

A murder investigation has been launched in Glasgow following the discovery of a man’s body in a property on Monar Street.

Police were called to the scene at around 9:20 am on Wednesday, March 5, where they found 55-year-old James Jarvis dead. Detectives are now working to establish his movements before his death, as well as any potential suspects.

Investigators have also focused their attention on Auckland Street, where a vehicle belonging to Mr Jarvis was located at approximately 7:20 am on the same day. The area has been cordoned off as forensic officers examine the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie described the case as “challenging” and urged members of the public to come forward with any relevant information. Police Scotland has set up an online portal where witnesses can submit tips directly to investigators.

Mr Jarvis’ family has been informed of the investigation and has requested privacy.

Authorities are conducting extensive enquiries, including reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to potential witnesses in the area. Local residents are urged to check any doorbell or dashcam footage that might provide clues about the victim’s final hours.

As the investigation continues, police have increased patrols in the area to reassure the public. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police Scotland or submit details anonymously through Crimestoppers.
