Boosted by a new TV series, Fallout 4 experiences a resurgence in popularity, dominating European sales

Nearly ten years after its initial release, Fallout 4 has surged to become Europe’s best-selling game, according to the latest sales data from the chart numbers company GSD. This remarkable resurgence in popularity has seen the game’s sales increase by over 7,500 per cent week-on-week across Europe, primarily driven by PC gamers, who account for 69 per cent of recent sales.

The resurgence is largely attributed to the buzz created by Amazon’s new Fallout TV series, which debuted last week to critical acclaim. The series has evidently rekindled interest in the entire Fallout franchise, as evidenced by the presence of three more Fallout titles in the European Weekly Top 10 for Digital and Physical sales: Fallout 76, Fallout: New Vegas, and Fallout 3, ranking eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.

Other titles from the series also featured in the top 100, with the Fallout Classic Collection at 43rd place, Fallout 2 at 57th, and the original Fallout game at 70th. This widespread fan interest highlights the enduring appeal of the Fallout series and its ability to attract both new players and veterans of the series.

The Fallout 4 phenomenon is especially notable on the PC platform, where the game has seen a significant revival. This spike in sales can also be linked to the availability of innovative mods, many of which have been inspired by the TV series, allowing players to incorporate elements of the show into their gaming experience.
