The highly-anticipated second series of “Trigger Point” burst onto our screens with a bang, as Vicky McClure reprised her role amidst another looming terror alert. In a thrilling first episode, Lana Washington (played by Vicky) found herself thrust into the heart of action a day earlier than expected when she had to confront a shocking impending terror threat. However, despite the action-packed premiere, not everyone was thrilled with the opening of the new series.

Lucy Lewis, Britain’s first female bomb disposal expert, expressed her disappointment with the portrayal of her profession in the show. In her real-life role, Lucy led teams to identify and defuse explosive devices. She revealed that certain scenes in “Trigger Point” left her baffled and frustrated, saying, “There were times I spat my tea everywhere and threw things at the telly and started shouting because some details were horribly wrong, but they’re not allowed to put things that are more accurate.”

Initially impressed that the show appeared to depict her profession accurately, Lucy’s enthusiasm waned when the series introduced a digital countdown clock, which she claimed does not exist in the bomb disposal world. She explained, “None of us have ever seen a digital countdown clock. It is just not a thing.”

Despite the need for accuracy in television drama, Lucy acknowledged the challenge of balancing drama and realism, stating, “It’s a very difficult job to be an advisor on some of these things (shows) because you’ve got this conflict between what’s good drama and what’s accurate.”

In the opening episode of the second series, Lana addressed security officers from top financial institutions about the challenges of terrorism involving bombs, only for a bomb attack to suddenly hit the city centre. However, some fans shared Lucy’s sentiments and criticised the show’s execution.

One viewer commented on social media, “Absolute s**e. Badly acted woke crp.” Another expressed their frustration, saying, “Trigger Point absolutely garbage, totally overacted. One episode was enough.”

Despite the mixed reviews, others were enthusiastic about the new series. One fan expressed their excitement, writing, “Trigger Point New series and straight into the thick of it! Going to be a great series!!” Another echoed their sentiment, saying, “Trigger Point is back and I’m loving it!!”

The second series welcomes back familiar faces, including Nabil Elouahabi as Hass, Eric Shango as Danny, Mark Stanley as DI Thom Youngblood, Kerry Godliman as Sonya Reeves, Kris Hitchen as John, and Kevin Eldon as Jeff.
