The family of Dr Kanokporn Tangyuan has filed a lawsuit against Disney World after she died from a severe allergic reaction following a meal at the Raglan Road Irish pub and Restaurant in Disney Springs
Dr. Kanokporn Tangsuan, a doctor from New York, visited Disney Springs with her husband, Jeffrey J Piccolo, and Piccolo’s mother on October 5. They dined at the Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant, where they were assured their food would be allergy-safe.
According to a lawsuit filed in a Florida circuit court, Dr Tangsuan died later that evening due to a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis. The lawsuit accuses Disney and the restaurant of negligence, claiming that despite assurances of accommodating allergies, the food served caused Dr. Tangsuan’s reaction.
The lawsuit states that Dr Tangsuan and Piccolo informed their server about her severe allergies and asked about allergen-free options. They were reportedly assured that specific items would be allergen-free if ordered.
After finishing their meal, Dr Tangsuan stayed at Disney Springs to shop while Piccolo returned to their hotel. She later began experiencing difficulty breathing and collapsed, suffering from a severe allergic reaction. Despite using her EpiPen and being taken to the hospital, she passed away.
An autopsy revealed elevated levels of dairy and nuts in Dr Tangsuan’s system, with the cause of death listed as an accident. Piccolo is seeking damages of more than $50,000 in the lawsuit.
