The new trailer introduces Barriss Offee and Morgan Elsbeth’s descent into the empire’s shadows

Disney Plus and Lucasfilm are set to deepen the “Star Wars” lore with “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire,” a continuation and rebranding of “Tales of the Jedi.” This upcoming series promises to explore the darker corners of the galaxy, as evidenced by the newly released trailer. “Tales of the Empire” will spotlight two women’s journey into the Dark Side, adding complexity and intrigue to the “Star Wars” universe.

Barriss Offee returns, voiced again by Meredith Salenger, revealing her life beyond her betrayal in “The Clone Wars.” Once a promising Jedi and close ally to Ahsoka Tano, Barriss’s path takes a dark turn as she joins the ranks of the Empire’s Jedi-hunting Inquisitors post-“Revenge of the Sith.”

Morgan Elsbeth, portrayed by Diana Lee Inosanto, also steps into the limelight. Having appeared in “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka,” her backstory and allegiance to Grand Admiral Thrawn will now be unveiled, offering fans a deeper understanding of her motivations.

The voice cast for this season includes notable names like Rya Kihlstedt as Lyn, Wing T. Chao as Wing, Jason Isaacs reprising his role as the Grand Inquisitor, and Matthew Wood as General Grievous. These characters promise to enrich the narrative, bringing together familiar and new elements that fans have come to love.

Set to premiere on Star Wars Day, May 4th, “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire” aims to deliver a compelling exploration of characters embracing the Dark Side. This series marks another chapter in expanding the “Star Wars” saga, promising new depths of storytelling and character development. Not only does this new project take things forward but the interaction of such a huge franchise with the type of production, that is animation, marks new possibilities of world-building and new ways of constructing the universe in which Star Wars was first envisioned and which is continually growing.
