The beloved American comedian is set to make his Irish TV debut in the long-running soap, promising an unforgettable performance

Conan O’Brien, the iconic American TV host, is taking his talents to Ireland, making a highly anticipated appearance on the Irish-language soap opera “Ros Na Rún.” Set to air on April 30, this special episode is part of O’Brien’s latest venture, his HBO travel series “Conan Must Go,” which features his adventures across Ireland.

At 60 years old, O’Brien continues to expand his horizons, this time by delving into the world of Irish soap operas. During his stint on “Ros Na Rún,” he tackled the challenge of speaking Irish for the first time, under the guidance of linguistics coach Kevin Hussey. His role as a feisty delivery man who clashes with Tadhg Ó Direáin, the village rogue and publican, is eagerly awaited by fans and newcomers alike.

Marion Ni Loingsigh, the series producer for “Ros Na Rún,” expressed excitement about O’Brien’s role, pairing him with Macdara Ó Fátharta, who portrays Tadhg. She highlighted the dynamic interaction between the characters, praising O’Brien’s efforts in delivering his lines in Irish, which she described as both entertaining and well-executed.

The production team, including Mairéad Campbell, the show’s production manager, expressed their thrill over hosting such a prominent figure in television. Campbell noted the significance of bringing together two TV giants from both sides of the Atlantic, celebrating their shared Irish heritage and introducing the charm of “Ros Na Rún” and the Irish language to a global audience.

O’Brien’s venture into Irish television follows a series of memorable appearances in Ireland earlier this year, including a notably chaotic segment on the “Late Late Show” and a visit to Loughnane’s family butchers in Galway. His engaging and humorous presence on “Ros Na Rún” is expected to attract viewers who are curious to see how the comedian adapts to and embraces the nuances of Irish soap opera acting.

As “Ros Na Rún” continues its 28th season, the addition of Conan O’Brien is sure to provide a fresh and humorous twist to the beloved series, promising to delight both long-time viewers and those tuning in for the first time to catch a glimpse of O’Brien’s unique take on the Irish soap opera format.
