Nicolas Colsaerts and Cameron John lead after the second round, with david law and Darren Fichardt closely trailing at the Alfred Dunhill Links.

Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts and Australia’s Cameron John sit atop the leaderboard at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after two rounds, both scoring 14 under par. Colsaerts, at 41 and ranked 695th in the world, carded an impressive seven-under 65 at Carnoustie, racking up eight birdies. John, competing in only his seventh DP World Tour event, shot 68 at St Andrews, sharing the lead in his debut links performance.

Colsaerts, known for his role in Europe’s historic 2012 Ryder Cup victory at Medinah, reflected on his contentment with his career, saying, “The stage I’m at, I’m just happy to be here.” Despite a bogey on his card, his round remained strong with consistent birdies. John, at 23, embraced the unique challenge of playing on links courses, acknowledging how special it felt to walk up the iconic 18th hole at St Andrews.

Scotland’s David Law finished one shot behind, with a solid five-under 67 at St Andrews, tying with overnight leader Darren Fichardt, whose follow-up round of 70 at the Old Course kept him in the chase.

Further down the leaderboard, notable names are also vying for contention. England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Tyrrell Hatton are tied at 11 under, while Brooks Koepka soared up to nine under following a 64, with Spain’s Jon Rahm just behind. However, Rory McIlroy’s back-to-back rounds of 69 see him eight shots behind, requiring a remarkable round on Saturday to regain momentum.

As the competition heads into the weekend, Colsaerts and John will seek to defend their position, but a closely packed leaderboard, filled with both veterans and rising stars, leaves the title wide open
