New features bring enhanced search capabilities and seamless integration with Google services, offering a better browsing experience on phones.

Google Chrome for iOS is receiving several exciting updates that enhance the browsing experience by bringing features from its Android counterpart to Apple’s mobile platform. One of the most notable additions is the simultaneous image and text search functionality, powered by Google Lens. While Chrome for iOS already allowed users to search using images alone, this new upgrade allows you to combine text with images in a single search, making it easier to refine results and find exactly what you’re looking for.

For instance, users can now upload an image of a product, such as a t-shirt design, and add a text search for a specific colour, like “blue.” Google Lens will then provide results for that product in the desired colour. This feature is particularly useful for those looking to narrow down product searches or find variations of items they like. The update comes at a time when Apple has introduced its own Visual Intelligence search tool, but with limitations, as it’s only available on iPhone 16 and 16 Pro models.

Another key feature of the update is the ability to save images and files, including PDFs, directly to Google Photos or Google Drive, offering users more flexibility in managing their data. This functionality is a great way to avoid filling up your iPhone’s storage, especially if you’re running low on the free 5GB of iCloud storage. Files saved to Google services can be accessed across devices, making it easier to manage content on the go.

Alongside these improvements, Chrome for iOS is also introducing Shopping Insights. This feature helps users find the best deals on products they are browsing by displaying “Good Deal Now” notifications in the address bar. Chrome will also let you track prices for items you’re interested in, keeping you informed of any price drops. To make this feature work, users will need to sync their browsing history with Google and enable the “Make searches & browsing better” option, which sends Google URLs of visited pages to improve personalized search results.

These updates mark a significant upgrade for Chrome users on iOS, making it more competitive with other browsing apps by providing new ways to search, manage files, and shop smarter.
