In a distressing turn of events, the police have initiated an investigation following the discovery of a newborn baby girl inside a shopping bag left on the streets amidst freezing temperatures. The alarming find was made last night in Newham, East London, by a vigilant dog walker.
Wrapped in a towel and placed within a shopping bag, the baby was fortunately kept warm by the quick-thinking individual until paramedics arrived promptly. Subsequently, the newborn was transported to the hospital, where it was confirmed by the Metropolitan Police that she sustained no injuries and is currently under the care of hospital staff.
Authorities have now issued a plea to locate the baby’s mother, expressing concerns that she may require urgent medical attention. Chief Superintendent Simon Crick, in charge of policing in Newham, commended the public for their swift response, stating, “I am grateful to the members of the public who stayed at the scene to speak with officers and medics – your actions contributed to saving the baby’s life.”
