The Tamil superstar’s residence suffers flooding amid severe weather, prompting school closures and a red alert in the city

Chennai, known for its vibrant culture and bustling streets, is grappling with the aftermath of torrential rains that have wreaked havoc across the city, notably affecting the upscale Poes Garden area where Tamil film icon Rajinikanth resides. On Tuesday, significant rainfall inundated numerous localities, leading to severe flooding, including the actor’s home, which was shown in distressing videos circulating on social media.

Poes Garden, recognised for its low-lying landscape, saw streets transformed into rivers as rainwater accumulated rapidly. Footage revealed that not only were the roads submerged, but water also made its way into Rajinikanth’s residence, although initial reports indicate that the house appears to have suffered no serious damage. Thankfully, Rajinikanth and his family were not visible in the troubling scenes shared online.

As the city continues to deal with the relentless downpour, the Tamil Nadu government has responded decisively by issuing a red alert. Schools and colleges across Chennai will remain closed on Wednesday to ensure the safety of students amid the hazardous conditions. Additionally, companies have been advised to implement work-from-home protocols to safeguard employees during this challenging time.

The rains that struck Chennai on Tuesday are part of an extended spell of inclement weather affecting the region, leading to knee-deep water accumulation in many residential areas. Reports indicate that several major roads have become impassable, complicating transportation and emergency services across the city.

In related news, Rajinikanth recently made headlines for health reasons. Earlier this month, he underwent a heart procedure to address swelling in a blood vessel, during which doctors placed a stent in his aorta using a minimally invasive transcatheter method. As his fans express concern for his well-being, the actor’s recent experiences serve as a reminder of the unpredictability of both health and nature.

With the city bracing for further rain, the community rallies together, supporting one another as they navigate the challenges brought on by the weather. As Chennai faces this environmental crisis, the resilience of its residents shines through.
