Mazayah Andrews, 38, advocates for open-mindedness and financial stability in unconventional family structure

Mazayah Andrews, a 38-year-old resident of Miami, is breaking societal norms by flourishing in a polyamorous relationship with his three wives – Stephanie Almonte, Rosa Zelaya, both 30, and Dezeray Carrera, 23. Andrews encourages individuals to transcend their ‘inherited’ belief systems and embrace a more diverse approach to relationships.

Andrews and Stephanie initially engaged in a monogamous relationship in 2016, but two years later, they parted ways, leading Andrews into a relationship with Rosa. Stephanie, expressing her desire to rekindle their relationship, explained on ITV’s This Morning, “I continued to try and rekindle our relationship the whole time, and then when he split from Rosa, we all sat down and had a conversation and said, ‘I want to be with you, she wants to be with you, I like girls, so if that makes you happy, then we’re happy.'”

The introduction of Dezeray into the relationship was met with openness. Stephanie, highlighting the excitement of the challenge, stated, “Being in a poly relationship is everything I ever wanted. I feel like I manifested it; it came pretty easy to me.”

Living together under one roof, Andrews emphasizes the financial stability this dynamic brings. He clarified, “We all live in one household. So it’s not like polygamy; this is polyamorous. My wives are also bisexual, so as we all live together, it’s like a collective building and brings financial stability.”

Beyond financial benefits, the family shares responsibilities, including parenting their 11 children equally. Andrews describes polyamory as a form of ‘teamwork and nurturing.’

While acknowledging early challenges and moments of jealousy, Stephanie noted, “After seeing that she [Rosa] makes him happy in ways that I couldn’t, it felt silly to be jealous over that.”

Addressing potential criticism, Andrews encourages individuals to question inherited beliefs, stating, “You don’t have to be stuck to one thing, or do what was passed down through a generation who really didn’t have access to the things we do now. Always go out there and be yourself because there is more to that education that we had prior compared to what we have now; it’s beyond different.”

The unconventional family dynamic challenges societal norms and stands as a testament to the diversity of relationship structures.
