Met office issues severe weather warnings across the UK

As Storm Isha unleashes its powerful gales across the UK, a British Airways flight encountered a harrowing experience at Heathrow Airport, compelling the pilot to abandon the landing. The Met Office issued both amber and yellow severe weather warnings in various regions, indicating potential power cuts, travel disruption, and hazardous conditions.

Captured by the Big Jet TV YouTube channel, the footage reveals the tense moment as the aircraft, identified as G-EUYG, attempts to land amidst the intensifying winds. The aircraft visibly wobbles during the descent, prompting the pilot to make a swift decision to abort the landing. The plane gracefully ascends to recircle and reassess the conditions before attempting another approach.

The Met Office’s warnings encompassed multiple parts of the UK, cautioning travelers about potential disruptions to rail, road, and air travel. With the stormy conditions affecting Heathrow, this incident adds to the challenges faced by travelers and aviation professionals.

Chief Meteorologist Dan Suri emphasized the severity of Storm Isha, predicting strong winds across the entire UK. The amber severe weather warning highlights regions at particular risk, including Northern Ireland, central and southern Scotland, Wales, northern England, and southwestern parts of England. Wind gusts between 50-60mph, reaching up to 80mph in exposed coastal areas, are expected. Additionally, the far southeast of England faces the risk of 70-80mph gusts in the early hours of Monday morning as the storm progresses.

The Met Office advises residents and travelers in affected areas to stay updated on weather alerts, exercise caution, and follow safety guidelines during this challenging weather event.
