Two security personnel were injured on Tuesday afternoon during an ongoing encounter with militants in the Choontpathri forest area of Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter began as security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.
According to officials, the operation commenced after security forces identified a suspected terrorist hideout in the forested area. As a search party advanced towards the location, the militants opened fire, triggering an immediate clash with the personnel. The gunfight escalated quickly, and during the initial exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed. However, the situation soon became more intense, with two security forces personnel suffering injuries.
The injured personnel were swiftly evacuated from the scene and are receiving medical treatment in a nearby hospital. Their conditions have not yet been disclosed, but both are expected to survive.
