33-year-old woman becomes third individual arrested following new year’s eve tragedy involving Euromillions winner’s former partner

Police Scotland has confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old woman in connection to the tragic death of 38-year-old Marc Webley, the ex-partner of EuroMillions winner Jane Park. Webley was shot just before midnight on New Year’s Eve in Edinburgh, and the 33-year-old woman is the third person to be arrested in connection with the incident.

In an official statement, Police Scotland provided an update on the ongoing investigation: “A third person has been arrested in connection with the death of a 38-year-old man in Edinburgh. Emergency services were called around 11.50pm on Sunday, 31 December, 2023, after a firearm was discharged in West Granton Road.”

The statement further revealed that both a 32-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman had previously been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, appearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 January.

Marc Webley was fatally shot outside a pub on West Granton Road, and despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Witnesses described chaotic scenes with armed police and ambulances rushing to the area. It is reported that a balaclava-clad gunman ambushed Webley, shooting him in the head before fleeing the scene in a red Hyundai Tucson.

Webley had a history of legal troubles, having previously served an 11-year sentence for shooting a drugs gang rival. He was also linked to Euromillions winner Jane Park, who had recently ended their relationship. Webley had been due to stand trial for assaulting his ex-partner, and the motive behind the New Year’s Eve shooting remains under investigation.

Detective Grant, leading the investigation, urged the public for information: “We are appealing for any information or footage of the suspect vehicle and its movements before and after the incident happened. If you saw this vehicle in the surrounding area late on Sunday evening, we would like to hear from you.”

As the investigation continues, Jane Park, who made history by winning £1 million at the age of 17, left a single love heart as a tribute on a photograph, expressing her condolences for the tragic event.
