Amber heard stunned the world with the Instagram birth reveal of twins Agnes and Ocean, on US Mother’s Day
Amber Heard, once the centre of one of Hollywood’s most explosive legal battles, delivered a very different surprise this Mother’s Day. In a post that took fans and followers completely off guard, the 39-year-old actor revealed she had welcomed twins—daughter Agnes and son Ocean—marking what she called the “completion” of her family.
The announcement came via Instagram, under a striking image of three tiny pairs of feet. Heard wrote, “Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life.”
She didn’t say when the twins were born or provide further details about their birth or paternity, but the emotional post made it clear: this was no accident of fate. Heard emphasised that she had chosen motherhood “responsibly and thoughtfully,” and described her new family of three children as one she had “strived to build for years.”
“I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy,” she added.
The post also paid tribute to mothers everywhere, with Heard declaring, “To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you.”
It’s not the first time the actor has publicly embraced unconventional motherhood. When she announced the birth of her first daughter, Oonagh Paige, in 2021, Heard said she wanted it to be “normalised to not want a ring in order to have a crib.” She had written then about the importance of redefining womanhood on her own terms, calling her journey into parenthood “radical” and “empowering.”
Now, with three children and no public partner in sight, Heard appears to be living that philosophy to its fullest.
Best known for roles in Aquaman, Zombieland, The Rum Diary, and Drive Angry, Heard has spent years under an intense public spotlight. Her tumultuous marriage to actor Johnny Depp, which lasted from 2015 to 2016, led to two of the most high-profile and bitter celebrity legal battles in recent history.
In 2020, Depp lost a UK libel case against The Sun newspaper, which had labelled him a “wife-beater”—a claim Heard backed in court. But in the US, a very different courtroom drama played out. In 2022, Heard was found liable for defaming Depp in an opinion article published by The Washington Post, in which she described herself as a survivor of domestic abuse, though she never named Depp directly.

Since the conclusion of those cases, Heard has kept a lower profile, appearing in limited press and choosing to focus on her personal life. This latest reveal—dramatic in its quiet delivery—shows that she has continued building her life in private, away from the headlines and courtroom flashbulbs.
The comments section of her announcement was quickly flooded with a mix of congratulatory messages, shock, and admiration. For many, the news came out of nowhere. For Heard, it was clearly the culmination of years of longing.
There was no press conference. No glossy magazine exclusive. Just a photo, a few heartfelt words, and a message to mothers everywhere.
And with that, Amber Heard quietly introduced Agnes and Ocean to the world, without fanfare, but with unmistakable pride.
