Saracens’ Alex Lozowski replaces the injured Cadan Murley in England’s Six Nations squad ahead of the France clash

England have made a late change to their Six Nations squad ahead of their crucial match against France at Twickenham, with Saracens centre Alex Lozowski stepping in for the injured Cadan Murley.

Murley, who impressed with a try on his debut against Ireland, missed training on Monday due to a foot injury that required further assessment. While the 25-year-old Harlequins wing could return later in the tournament, England head coach Steve Borthwick has opted to bolster the squad by recalling Lozowski, who last played for England in 2018.

The 31-year-old has been in strong form for Saracens and was included in England’s training squad for the autumn internationals last year, though he did not feature. With England looking to bounce back from their 27-22 loss to Ireland, Lozowski’s experience and versatility could prove vital.

England Faces a Tough Challenge Against France

England’s task will not be easy. France opened their Six Nations campaign in dominant fashion, demolishing Wales 43-0 in Paris. Their captain, Antoine Dupont, who returned from a brief stint focusing on sevens rugby, delivered a masterclass with three try assists.

England senior coach Richard Wigglesworth has hailed Dupont as the best player he has ever seen, warning that England will need to find a way to contain his brilliance. “There’s strength, power, vision, skill, and competitiveness—there’s not a weakness to exploit,” Wigglesworth told BBC Rugby Union Weekly.

With England’s backline reshuffled and pressure mounting after a seventh defeat in nine matches, all eyes will be on whether Borthwick’s side can recover and deliver a statement performance against the tournament favourites.
