Kansas city woman’s terrifying experience unfolds in Chicago Airbnb basement apartment

A vacation in Chicago turned into a nightmare for Xena Habashi and her family when they made a disturbing discovery in the basement apartment they rented through Airbnb. The unsettling experience unfolded as they stumbled upon a secret chamber behind a locked door, sparking fear and prompting online users to advise them to involve the police.

Upon arrival, Habashi noticed numerous random doors inside the house that were not part of the listing. The unsettling feeling escalated when she opened a door to find a mysterious locked room. With the help of a fork, they gained access and encountered a space with bare brick walls, strange implements, wooden doors with locks, and chains on the ground.

The discovery eerily paralleled the plot of the horror movie “Barbarian,” with Habashi and her cousin taking precautions by blocking the door. However, their ordeal intensified as they heard unexplained noises throughout the night, leaving them sleep-deprived and on edge.

Habashi shared her unsettling experience on TikTok, where the video unexpectedly went viral, attracting comments expressing fear and suggesting they involve the police. Viewers were alarmed by the eerie atmosphere and mysterious elements captured in the footage.

Upon raising their concerns, Airbnb promptly offered a full refund and assisted the guests in finding alternative accommodation. The company confirmed that there were no additional safety concerns with the listing. A spokesperson emphasized Airbnb’s commitment to safety, citing the availability of a 24-hour Safety Line for guests and hosts to reach the specialized Safety team in case of safety issues during their stay.

As the chilling incident gains attention, questions arise about Airbnb’s safety protocols and the potential need for increased scrutiny of listed properties.
