The star couple rescued Dudley, a dog left fighting for his life after LA’s devastating wildfires.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have expanded their family once again—this time with a four-legged survivor. The celebrity couple recently adopted Dudley, a dog who narrowly escaped the raging Los Angeles wildfires before being struck down by severe pneumonia.
Their pet supply brand, Kismet, shared an emotional video on Instagram, revealing the pup’s harrowing journey to recovery. “When we first met Dudley, he was fighting for his life. Thirteen days in the hospital, endless love from his foster family and an incredible recovery later—he’s officially home,” the couple wrote in the caption.
Dudley was rescued in mid-January and taken to Wags & Walks, a well-known pet shelter. His condition was dire, requiring round-the-clock care, oxygen treatments, and constant monitoring. At the time, the shelter admitted that his body was still struggling and his survival was uncertain. But against all odds, Dudley pulled through.
The video compilation shows heartwarming clips of Dudley settling into his new home, cuddling under blankets and snuggling with the couple’s four children. “We are in love,” Teigen and Legend gushed.
The adoption comes just months after the family suffered a heartbreaking loss. Their beloved three-legged French bulldog, Penny, passed away after 11 years. The couple acknowledged their grief in their adoption post, writing: “Nothing can replace the dogs we’ve loved before, but sometimes, the universe sends us the reminder that we need to open our hearts again.”
Teigen and Legend are no strangers to a full house. Over the years, they’ve cared for multiple dogs, birds, hamsters, and even a bearded dragon. But Dudley’s journey from near-death to a loving home makes him one of their most special rescues yet.
