A new book reveals Queen Camilla once resented royal protocol and confided in Charles about her doubts.
Before stepping into her role as Queen Consort, Camilla privately battled against the rigid expectations of royal life, a new book has revealed. According to Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants by Tom Quinn, Camilla initially loathed the idea of becoming queen and frequently vented her frustrations to King Charles.
Excerpts published in The Times of London, cited by Us Weekly, disclose how Camilla confided in her husband, questioning whether they could escape the suffocating constraints of royal tradition.

Charles, who reportedly dislikes swearing, would gently respond, “You’re doing it for me, darling.”
The book details the exhausting precision of royal life, where every suit must be meticulously pressed the night before, shoes polished to perfection, and baths drawn at an exact time each day.
Quinn also sheds light on the temperament of both Charles and Prince William, revealing that they are prone to irritation when things don’t meet their expectations.
“They both get irritated very quickly,” a palace insider shared. “They are very picky. It comes naturally to them.”
Despite her initial resistance, Camilla has since embraced her role as Queen, but her past struggles highlight the immense pressure that comes with life inside the monarchy.
