Liam Payne’s passing will be acknowledged in the in-memoriam section at the 2025 Grammys

Liam Payne, the beloved One Direction member, will be posthumously honoured at the 2025 Grammy Awards, just three months after his tragic death. The talented singer-songwriter’s fans had hoped for a reunion of the band—Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan—to pay tribute to their late friend at the prestigious ceremony. However, Grammy executive producer Ben Winston confirmed there will be no such performance.

“It is a very difficult time. Losing Liam was very, very tough. No doubt about it. But, no, there will be no One Direction performance,” Winston stated in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. Despite this, Winston assured that Payne’s memory would be honoured in the In Memoriam section, a place reserved for those who have passed in the previous year.

“He was the most beautiful, wonderful boy, and I love him very, very much,” Winston continued, visibly emotional. “Of course, he will be in our In Memoriam without question.”

Winston, who had been working with Payne shortly before the tragedy, revealed the heartbreaking personal impact of his loss. “When you are going through rehearsals and seeing the clips, it’s devastating. A guy who was sat in this office four weeks before that tragedy happened,” he said.

Payne tragically died after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His unexpected passing has left his family, friends, and fans mourning the loss of a vibrant young talent.

At the Grammys, his legacy will live on, and the tribute will no doubt be an emotional moment for those who knew and loved him. The 2025 ceremony will forever be remembered as a bittersweet occasion, as fans come together to honour the life of a man who had so much more to offer.
