Israel’s air force targets Hezbollah’s military sites, rocket launchers, and weapon routes along the Syrian-Lebanese border
In a major military action, the Israel Air Force (IAF) has struck multiple Hezbollah terror targets across Lebanon, the Israeli military confirmed on Monday morning. The airstrikes targeted key Hezbollah assets, including rocket launcher sites, military installations, and vital weapon transfer routes on the Syrian-Lebanese border.
The strikes, which took place in the early hours of January 13, 2025, follow growing concerns over Hezbollah’s increasing threat to Israel’s security. The military specifically noted that these routes were being used by Hezbollah to transfer weapons from Syria to Lebanon, where the Iranian-backed terror group operates.
According to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), prior to carrying out the attacks, the threats posed by these sites were presented to the monitoring mechanism overseeing the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. However, despite this notification, the military pointed out that no measures had been taken to address the threats, prompting Israel to take decisive action.

Further reports suggested additional attacks took place in the Bekaa Valley, a region close to the Syrian border, known for its strategic importance to Hezbollah’s operations.
The airstrikes come at a time of heightened tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, as the terror group continues to pose a significant challenge to Israeli security along the northern border. The group, which receives substantial backing from Iran, has long been a thorn in Israel’s side, with previous border skirmishes and a history of hostile actions.
These latest strikes underscore Israel’s ongoing commitment to countering Hezbollah’s military build-up and its weaponry infrastructure, which is seen as a direct threat to Israeli civilians and troops. The IDF has consistently maintained that it will act decisively to neutralise threats posed by Hezbollah, regardless of the ceasefire agreements in place.
The ongoing Israeli operation reflects the complex and volatile security situation in the region. While international calls for de-escalation continue, Israel’s military strategy prioritises the dismantling of Hezbollah’s military capabilities, which are seen as a significant destabilising force in the region.
The situation remains tense as the airstrikes have the potential to escalate hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. In the coming days, the international community will be closely monitoring developments in southern Lebanon, as Israel and Hezbollah’s bitter conflict continues to unfold.
