A 40-second teaser reveals Nessa Jenkins in a hilarious rickshaw hustle ahead of the final episode of the beloved BBC sitcom.

Fans of Gavin and Stacey were treated to their first glimpse of the long-awaited Christmas special, as the BBC released a 40-second teaser trailer on December 13. The clip showcases the infamous Nessa Jenkins, played by Ruth Jones, in a classic hustle as she attempts to swindle unsuspecting elderly customers during a rickshaw ride.

In the teaser, Nessa, clad in her signature leather waistcoat, charges a hefty £75 for a two-minute ride, embodying her cheeky, no-nonsense character. However, the video offers little insight into her on-screen romance with Smithy, portrayed by James Corden, leaving fans eagerly awaiting more details.

The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special marks the final chapter of the sitcom, which first aired in 2007. After a four-year hiatus, the show made a brief return in 2019 with a one-off festive episode that ended on a cliffhanger when Nessa popped the question to Smithy. Since then, fans have eagerly anticipated the conclusion of their story.

James Corden, who has kept a low profile from the show in recent years, was spotted directing the final episode earlier this year, sparking excitement among loyal followers. The upcoming special is expected to tie up all the loose ends, particularly surrounding the long-running romance between Nessa and Smithy.

Adding to the festive hype, BBC Studios has launched its first-ever Gavin and Stacey merchandise collection. The range, designed in collaboration with the show’s creators Ruth Jones and James Corden, features T-shirts, sweatshirts, and festive items emblazoned with some of the show’s most iconic catchphrases, such as “o’ what’s occurring?” and “tidy.” Other memorable quotes like “hands off my bhunas” and “I know what happened on the fishing trip” also make an appearance, perfect for fans looking to bring a piece of Gavin and Stacey home this holiday season.

Andrew Carley, director of consumer products at BBC Studios, expressed his excitement about the new merchandise, saying, “We are delighted to be launching the official Gavin and Stacey merchandise range for fans to enjoy the show’s most iconic memorable moments. The collection captures exactly what makes Gavin and Stacey so well-loved and has something there for everyone this Christmas and beyond.”

The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special, titled The Finale, will air at 9pm on Christmas Day on BBC One and iPlayer. Following the episode, fans can look forward to a heartwarming documentary, Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell, which will air on New Year’s Day at 7pm, also on BBC One and iPlayer.

Merchandise lovers can get their hands on the new collection through BBC Studios’ licensing partner, Teemill, via its dedicated website.
