Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded the Order of Excellence, Guyana’s highest civilian honour, by President Dr. Irfaan Ali. The prestigious recognition was conferred on Thursday in a ceremony in Georgetown, Guyana, where Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the honour, emphasizing that it belonged not only to him but to the entire 1.4 billion people of India.

“This honour does not only belong to me but also to 1.4 billion Indians,” Modi said, reinforcing the deep connection between the two nations. He acknowledged the enduring partnership between India and Guyana, which is built on shared history, cultural ties, and mutual trust. The award is seen as a testament to the strong diplomatic and cultural bonds that continue to flourish between the two countries.
