Caitlyn Jenner publicly expresses her enduring disapproval of O.J. Simpson, whose trial notably divided the Kardashian family

Following the death of O.J. Simpson at 76, Caitlyn Jenner, a close observer of the infamous trial due to her marriage to Kris Jenner at the time, took to social media to voice her long-standing criticism of the former NFL star. Jenner’s blunt message, “Good riddance #OJSimpson,” reflects her critical stance on Simpson, whom she has consistently accused of being responsible for the deaths of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Caitlyn Jenner, who was married to Kris Jenner during Simpson’s 1995 murder trial, has never shied away from expressing her views about Simpson’s character and the outcomes of the legal battles he faced. Kris Jenner was close friends with Nicole Brown, adding a deeply personal dimension to the trial’s impact on their family.

In her 2017 memoir, “The Secrets of My Life,” Jenner described Simpson as “the most narcissistic, egocentric, neediest a— in the world of sports I had ever seen.” This depiction aligns with her repeated public assertions that Simpson was indeed guilty of the murders, despite his acquittal in the criminal trial. “I believe he got away with two savage murders,” Jenner wrote.

The trial, dubbed the “trial of the century,” was a media spectacle that deeply affected the Jenner and Kardashian families. Simpson’s legal team included Robert Kardashian, Caitlyn’s former brother-in-law, which placed the family in an awkward position of internal conflict as Kris Jenner supported Nicole’s family.

Caitlyn Jenner has mentioned in various interviews, including a 2021 appearance on “Big Brother VIP,” her conviction regarding Simpson’s guilt. She recounted an alleged threat Simpson had made to Nicole, which Nicole had shared with Kris Jenner, highlighting the tormenting foresight Nicole had about her fate.

The trial’s aftermath continued to ripple through the Kardashian family, with Jenner revealing that even Robert Kardashian had doubts about Simpson’s innocence. After Simpson’s criminal trial, he was later found liable for wrongful death and battery in a civil trial and ordered to pay $33 million to the families of the victims.

Simpson’s life continued to be tumultuous following the trial. He was arrested in 2007 for armed robbery and kidnapping in Las Vegas and served nine years in prison. He was released on parole in 2017 and lived relatively quietly until his death from prostate cancer.

Caitlyn Jenner’s response to Simpson’s death not only reiterates her stance but also reminds the public of the lasting divisions and painful memories the trial left on her family and many others close to the case.
