Xcmg’s XCA4000 marks a new milestone in heavy lifting technology, showcasing its capabilities at a wind farm in Hengshui
China has unveiled a groundbreaking achievement in heavy lifting technology with the introduction of the XCA4000, a wheeled mobile crane boasting an impressive 4,000-tonne lifting capacity. Manufactured by XCMG, the 11-axle crane has set a new standard in the industry and recently demonstrated its capabilities at a wind farm in Jing County, Hengshui, China.
The XCA4000 crane’s remarkable specifications include the ability to hoist a load of up to 230 tonnes to a height of 170 meters. This makes it the largest wheeled mobile crane ever constructed, surpassing previous records in heavy lifting capacity.
During its inaugural operations at the Jing County wind farm, the XCA4000 successfully executed a series of lifts for Hebei Rongcheng Technology. These lifts included transporting a 130-tonne wind turbine nacelle, a 40-tonne wheel hub, and three 95-meter-long blades, each weighing 28 tonnes, to a height of 162 meters for assembly on the tower.
Equipped with more than a dozen sensors distributed along the boom, the XCA4000 ensures real-time detection and elimination of hazards, enhancing safety during lifting operations, as highlighted by XCMG.
Traditionally, German manufacturers like Gottwald, Demag, and Liebherr have been at the forefront of mobile crane technology. However, China’s XCMG has emerged as a leader in response to the growing demand for erecting larger and higher wind turbines.
