Known affectionately as “Muffin” to her family, Hughes’s untimely death has left her loved ones in deep sorrow, questioning the circumstances that led to the accident.
Hughes, who had just finished her workday in Oak Creek, was on her way to celebrate her sister’s birthday when the devastating crash occurred. The Oak Creek Fire Department reported that the accident happened around 5:15 p.m., resulting in Hughes being ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The image of the wrecked car has deeply affected the family, with Hughes’s grandmother expressing disbelief and grief over the loss.
Speed is believed to be a contributing factor to the crash, according to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office. The family, desperate for answers, seeks clarity and information about the events that led to this tragedy. The northbound lanes of I-94 were temporarily closed at Drexel Avenue as authorities investigated the scene.
