In the world of Coronation Street, emotions run high as Todd Grimshaw faces a heartbreaking farewell to Moses Ekundayo this week. But who exactly is Moses, and is this exit permanent? Here’s the scoop on this Coronation Street character.
Moses, played by actor Michael Fatogun, is a caregiver who entered the lives of Weatherfield residents, particularly Paul Foreman, portrayed by Peter Ash. Paul, suffering from the debilitating symptoms of motor neurone disease, was devastated by his diminishing mobility and received the grim prognosis of having only a few months left to live. As his condition worsened, and with his mother Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) facing a three-month prison sentence, Paul’s need for consistent care became evident.

As he settled into his new job, he caught the eye of Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), a close friend of Paul and Billy Mayhew. Recent episodes of the show saw Todd and Moses exploring their romantic connection and even going on a date, although Todd’s work commitments interrupted their rendezvous.
Despite the obstacles in their path, the chemistry between Todd and Moses remained undeniable. However, a significant obstacle is now looming over their budding relationship.
Moses found himself in Bernie Winter’s bad books when he repeatedly arrived late for his scheduled visits to Paul. Bernie complained about his tardiness, but she soon regretted her actions upon discovering that Moses was overworked and struggling to cope with his responsibilities. Despite Bernie withdrawing her complaint, Moses faced suspension, rendering him unable to continue his caregiving duties.
This week, Moses confides in Todd at the Rovers Return, revealing his decision to relocate to London in search of new employment opportunities.
Coronation Street’s showrunner, Iain MacLeod, had previously hinted that Todd’s romantic involvement with Moses would be short-lived but left the door open for future developments.
“There’s a dalliance for Todd, but it arrives at quite a poor time. And the person with whom he has the connection is probably not ideal in terms of the situation that Todd meets them in,” Iain MacLeod stated.
“At this time, it’s only a little test drive of his relationship with this person. It’s not very long running, but we thought that if we like what we see, it might go on to be long-running later on.”
Moses, portrayed by Michael Fatogun, is an experienced actor who began his career in 2010 with a role in the film “Hoods n Halos.” He has since appeared in various TV series and short films, including “Strays” (2011), “The T-Boy Show” (2014), “Dear Jesus” (2014-2015), “Autopsy: The Last Hours Of” (2016), “The Emily Atack Show” (2022), “You & Me” (2023), and more. Prior to his Coronation Street stint, Michael also had soapland experience, with roles in “Doctors” and “Emmerdale.”
As the drama unfolds in Weatherfield, viewers can catch Coronation Street every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8 pm on ITV.
