Alleged affair unveiled as educator accused of poisoning Husband’sSmoothies in shocking twist.

In a shocking turn of events, a 37-year-old teacher from a school faces attempted murder charges after allegedly attempting to poison her husband multiple times. Sarah Scheffer, a part-time instructor at Calvary Lutheran High School in Jefferson County, Missouri, was arrested last week amid disturbing accusations.

Scheffer’s husband, suspicious of his unexplained illnesses, took matters into his own hands and installed surveillance cameras. The footage reportedly captured Scheffer adding a substance labeled “lily of the valley” to her husband’s smoothies. The husband had earlier seen the same bag on a table, prompting concerns about potential food tampering.

The Jefferson City Police Department, in a press release on its Facebook page, disclosed that Scheffer’s husband reported the alleged intentional poisoning, leading to the investigation. Scheffer has been charged with attempted murder, and her teaching position has been put on hold, with her name and photo removed from the school’s website following her arrest.

During police interviews, Scheffer allegedly admitted to “adding items” to her husband’s food and drink, acknowledging their potential to cause illness or death. Shockingly, court documents reveal that she had allegedly been using the highly poisonous “lily of the valley” plant. The National Capital Poison Centre identifies this plant as containing cardiac glycosides, which can slow down the heart and cause irregular rhythms.

According to a probable cause statement, Scheffer’s husband experienced severe symptoms, including extreme fatigue, confusion, blurred vision, cotton mouth, and nausea. Disturbingly, when confronted, Scheffer reportedly told her husband that she had urinated in the beverage and added an industrial-strength adhesive, only to later deny any wrongdoing.

Adding a layer of complexity to the case, Scheffer admitted to having an affair and being in a relationship with a man from Pakistan. Police expressed concern about Scheffer’s potential flight risk, citing Google searches for flights to Pakistan in her search history.

Calvary Lutheran High School released a statement distancing the alleged conduct from the school’s association, emphasizing the importance of protecting the well-being of individuals within their programs.

Scheffer entered a plea of not guilty during her court appearance last Friday, marking the beginning of a legal battle that has left a Christian community grappling with the startling accusations.
