September’s Premium Bonds results are available to check today, with over £497 million in tax-free prizes and a new 4.35% prize-fund rate
Premium Bonds holders can find out from Wednesday 2 September whether they have won in the September 2026 NS&I prize draw.
Two £1 million jackpot winners from Norwich and London were revealed on Tuesday, but the rest of September’s results, including prizes from £25 up to £100,000, can now be checked online.
This month, ERNIE has drawn 6,529,868 tax-free prizes worth a combined £497,086,175, according to NS&I’s official September Premium Bonds results. A total of more than 137 billion £1 Bonds were eligible for the draw.
September is also the first draw under a higher 4.35% annual prize-fund rate, while the monthly odds of each eligible £1 Bond winning have improved to 21,000 to one.
Can I check my September Premium Bonds today?
Yes.
NS&I confirms that holders can check the full September 2026 Premium Bonds results from Wednesday 2 September, one day after the two £1 million jackpot Bond numbers were announced.
The quickest way is through the official NS&I Premium Bonds prize checker.
You can also check through the official Premium Bonds prize checker app or NS&I’s Alexa skill.
The online checker is useful even if you do not win this month. NS&I’s guidance on checking Premium Bonds prizes says it can show prizes from the current draw, winnings from the previous six draws and older prizes that have not yet been claimed.
How do I use the Premium Bonds prize checker?
If you are checking through the NS&I website, you will need your Premium Bonds holder’s number.
A holder’s number normally contains either:
- nine or 10 digits; or
- eight digits followed by a letter.
It can be found on your Bond record or by signing into your NS&I account.
There is an important difference if you are using the app.
The Premium Bonds prize checker app accepts either your holder’s number or your NS&I number, while the website prize checker requires the holder’s number.
An NS&I number is different from a holder’s number. It contains 11 digits and normally begins with 11, 21, 31 or 41, according to NS&I’s prize checker instructions.
So if the website is rejecting an NS&I number, it does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your account; you may simply need to enter your Premium Bonds holder’s number instead.
Who won the £1 million Premium Bonds prizes in September 2026?
Two Premium Bonds holders became millionaires in September.
The first winning Bond number is:
484QT130447
It is held by someone in Norwich who has the maximum £50,000 invested in Premium Bonds. The winning Bond was purchased in January 2022.
The second £1 million winning Bond number is:
659VC982054
It belongs to a holder in London with £45,500 invested. Their winning Bond was purchased in January 2026.
According to NS&I’s September jackpot announcement, they are the seventh £1 million winner from Norwich and the 25th from London.
NS&I contacts the two monthly jackpot winners directly through Agent Million before their winning Bond numbers are made public.

What is the Premium Bonds prize rate for September 2026?
The annual Premium Bonds prize-fund rate has increased from 3.80% to 4.35% for the September draw.
The monthly odds of each eligible £1 Bond winning have also improved:
Previous odds: 22,000 to one
September odds: 21,000 to one
When it announced the change in August, NS&I estimated there would be around 308,000 more prizes in September compared with August, with around £63 million extra added to the prize pot.
The final September draw contains more than 6.5 million prizes worth just over £497 million.
Does the 4.35% Premium Bonds rate mean you earn 4.35% interest?
No.
This is an important distinction because the Premium Bonds prize-fund rate does not work like the interest rate on an ordinary savings account.
Premium Bonds do not pay guaranteed interest.
Instead, the 4.35% annual prize-fund rate is used to calculate the overall amount available for prizes across eligible Premium Bonds.
NS&I explains in its Premium Bonds product guidance that the money is distributed through monthly tax-free prize draws rather than being paid to every holder as interest.
That means someone with £10,000 in Premium Bonds is not guaranteed to receive a 4.35% return.
One holder could win considerably more, while another could go through the year without winning anything.
Have the odds of winning Premium Bonds improved?
Yes.
For September, the monthly odds are 21,000 to one for every eligible £1 Bond, compared with 22,000 to one previously.
NS&I’s historical Premium Bonds rates and odds confirm that the previous 3.80% prize-fund rate and 22,000-to-one odds had applied from July 2026.
However, the 21,000-to-one figure does not mean that holding £21,000 in Premium Bonds guarantees a prize every month.
Each £1 Bond is a separate entry into the monthly draw. Having more Bonds gives you more chances to win, but no individual holder is guaranteed a return.
Could you have an old Premium Bonds prize waiting to be claimed?
Yes, and this is worth checking even if September’s draw does not bring you a win.
There are currently 2,851,753 unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes worth £126,787,100, according to NS&I.
Prizes can remain unclaimed when holders move home, change their bank account or update other contact details without notifying NS&I.
There is no time limit for claiming an old prize. NS&I’s unclaimed prizes guidance says the money will continue to be held until the rightful winner comes forward.
There are substantial prizes among those still waiting to be claimed.
In London, there are currently 485,060 unclaimed prizes worth £21,235,875, including one £100,000 prize and nine £25,000 prizes.
Norwich has 13,756 unclaimed prizes worth £631,875, including a £50,000 prize originally won in December 2023.
Using the prize checker therefore gives holders an opportunity to look for older winnings as well as September’s results.
How will I know if I’ve won a Premium Bonds prize?
Customers who have registered their contact details can receive notifications from NS&I by email or text when they win.
You do not have to wait for that message, however.
You can check the results yourself through the official prize checker once they become available.
For September 2026, all prizes from £25 to £100,000 became available to check from Wednesday 2 September.
When will September Premium Bonds prizes be paid?
The timing depends on how you have chosen to receive your prize.
If your winnings are paid directly into your bank account or NS&I Direct Saver, NS&I says you will normally receive the money by the seventh working day of the month.
Holders below the £50,000 Premium Bonds limit can also choose to have eligible winnings automatically reinvested into more Bonds.
Those reinvested Bonds are immediately eligible for the following draw.
There is a separate process for larger prizes.
According to NS&I’s Premium Bonds payment guidance, winners of £25,000, £50,000 or £100,000 receive a claim form that must be completed and returned before the money is paid. £1 million jackpot winners are contacted personally by Agent Million.
How much money can you hold in Premium Bonds?
The maximum amount one person can hold in Premium Bonds is £50,000.
Each eligible £1 Bond receives one entry into the monthly prize draw, with every eligible Bond carrying the same odds.
New Premium Bonds are not immediately included in a draw. They generally need to be held for one full calendar month after purchase before becoming eligible.
Premium Bonds prizes range from £25 to £1 million, and all prizes are free from UK Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax.
When is the next Premium Bonds draw?
Premium Bonds draws take place each month.
The two £1 million Bond numbers are normally announced on the first working day of the month, with holders able to check all other prizes from the following day.
Anyone who misses out in September will therefore have another opportunity in the October 2026 Premium Bonds draw.
What should Premium Bonds holders do today?
Anyone with eligible Premium Bonds can now check whether they have won in the September 2026 draw.
The simplest option is to enter your holder’s number into the official NS&I Premium Bonds prize checker.
This month is notable not only because more than 6.5 million tax-free prizes worth over £497 million are being paid, but because it is the first draw under the higher 4.35% prize-fund rate and improved 21,000-to-one odds.
And even if you have not won this month, checking older results could still be worthwhile: almost £127 million in Premium Bonds prizes remains unclaimed.
