Get ready for travel shifts in the upcoming year! If 2023’s soaring flight numbers are any indication, 2024 is set to be another boom for travelers. With growing confidence after pandemic lockdowns, people are flocking to airports, pushing flight numbers closer to pre-COVID levels.

After a dip to 16.9 million flights in 2020, global flights are predicted to hit 34.4 million in 2023 and surge further next year. However, ticket costs soared in 2023 due to inflation and flying restrictions.

If you’re among the lucky ones jetting off in 2024, here’s what’s changing:

Hand Luggage Rules: Brace yourself for an upgrade! UK passengers will soon carry up to two liters of liquids onboard, thanks to nationwide security scanner upgrades by June 2024. London City’s leading with the tech, making security a breeze while sparing travelers from pricey miniatures.

e-Gates and Kids: Airport ease for families! Kids aged 10 and up can now use e-Gates at 13 UK airports, slashing waiting times. These gates are also operational in UK border controls at Eurostar terminals.

Passport and EU Entry Rules: Post-Brexit, ensure your UK passport is under 10 years old on travel day and holds three months’ validity post-return. Also, watch out for any damages that might invalidate your passport.

New EU Entry Controls: Brace for the Entry/Exit System (EES) by autumn 2024, capturing digital data of non-EU travelers entering EU countries. But expect possible delays!

Visa Updates: Visa requirements globally are evolving rapidly. From Kosovo’s Schengen entry to ongoing digital visa implementations, 2024 promises many changes internationally.

Tourist Taxes: Some destinations are upping fees to manage tourist numbers. Venice plans a €5 day-trip fee, while Paris and Amsterdam are hiking taxes.

Paris Olympics: If you’re in Paris during the Summer Olympics, expect transport cost hikes and accommodation price surges.

Restricted Airspace: Conflict zones affect flight paths and prices, with bans over certain countries. Expect increased ticket prices until conflicts ease.

So, if your 2024 itinerary’s set, keep these changes in mind for smoother travels ahead!
