Richarlison scores in the 90th minute to earn Tottenham a late Premier League draw at Liverpool

Tottenham rescued a dramatic late point at Anfield as Richarlison struck in the 90th minute to cancel out Dominik Szoboszlai’s first-half goal and earn a 1-1 draw with Liverpool in the Premier League.

The late equaliser eased some pressure on Spurs manager Igor Tudor, who secured the first point of his tenure after a difficult start that had included a series of defeats.

Liverpool appeared on course for victory after Szoboszlai opened the scoring in the first half with a free-kick that slipped past Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. The Hungarian midfielder’s effort found the corner despite Vicario getting a hand to the ball.

Tottenham had earlier shown signs of attacking intent despite their recent struggles. Dominic Solanke’s runs in behind troubled Joe Gomez during the early stages, while Souza forced Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson into tipping a powerful strike over the bar inside the opening fifteen minutes.

Liverpool’s breakthrough arrived after Alexis Mac Allister was fouled around 30 yards from goal, presenting Szoboszlai with the opportunity to deliver from a set piece. His shot was directed toward the centre of the goal, but Vicario failed to keep it out, pushing the ball into the corner.

Following the goal, Tottenham dropped deeper as Liverpool controlled possession and territory. The home side created several half-chances but could not extend their advantage, a problem that has surfaced repeatedly despite their attacking quality.

Tottenham’s defensive organisation kept them within reach of the match. Although Liverpool maintained pressure, clear scoring opportunities remained limited.

Richarlison came close to equalising during the first half. The Brazilian forward sent one header wide and saw another saved by Alisson, giving Liverpool early warnings that Spurs could still threaten.

On the touchline, Igor Tudor displayed his usual animated presence and was shown a booking after protesting referee Chris Kavanagh’s decision not to caution Rio Ngumoha for diving following contact in the penalty area.

Ngumoha, the 17-year-old Liverpool winger, drew attention for his fearless play during the match. Early in the second half he had two opportunities, firing one effort wide and another straight at Vicario.

His willingness to stretch Tottenham’s defence from the wing impressed the Anfield crowd, who gave the teenager a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 64th minute.

Liverpool struggled to rediscover the rhythm that helped them win the Premier League title, producing a stuttering performance that allowed Tottenham to remain in contention.

While Tottenham were forced to introduce two teenagers for their Premier League debuts due to a long injury list, Liverpool manager Arne Slot had several attacking options available from the bench.

Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitiké and Curtis Jones were all introduced as part of a triple substitution aimed at strengthening Liverpool’s attack, but the changes failed to produce the second goal the home side needed.

As the match entered its final minutes, tension grew among the Anfield supporters as Liverpool continued to search for a decisive goal.

Their concerns proved justified when Tottenham found the breakthrough they had been chasing all evening.

In the 90th minute, Richarlison finally scored the equaliser that had previously eluded him. After receiving the ball in the penalty area, he scuffed a low effort into the corner, wrongfooting Alisson and silencing the home crowd.

The late goal ensured Tottenham left Anfield with a point, while Liverpool were left to reflect on another match in which they failed to turn control into a comfortable victory.
