Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi reveal adoption of baby girl in heartfelt Instagram post
Millie Bobby Brown, the Stranger Things star who rose to global fame as Eleven in Netflix’s smash-hit sci-fi drama, has announced she has become a parent with her husband, Jake Bongiovi, after adopting a baby girl.
The couple, aged 21 and 23, shared the news in a heartfelt statement on social media on Thursday, saying they were “beyond excited” to embrace this new chapter of their lives together.
“This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption,” the pair wrote on Instagram, alongside a sketch of a tree and the Beatles’ Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da playing in the background. “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3.”
The announcement follows their wedding in October 2024, which came after their high-profile engagement the previous year. Bongiovi, a model and the son of legendary musician Jon Bon Jovi, marked their nuptials at the time with a message to his wife that read: “Forever and always, your husband.”
For Brown, becoming a mother fulfils a dream she has long spoken about. In March, during an appearance on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett, she opened up about her hopes for starting a family. “Jake knows how important it is to me [to have a child],” she explained. While committed to continuing her acting and producing career, she said, “I also find it’s so important to start a family, for me, personally.”
Brown has also been candid in interviews about wanting a large family and considering adoption as a meaningful path to parenthood. The couple’s announcement suggests they are taking deliberate steps to shape the family life they envisioned.
In recent years, Brown has expanded her career well beyond Stranger Things, starring alongside Chris Pratt in the Netflix sci-fi adventure The Electric State. She has also branched into producing, using her platform to champion projects she believes in.
Away from the screen, Brown’s 2023 debut novel, Nineteen Steps, made headlines for its ghostwriting controversy. Inspired by her grandmother’s experience during the 1943 Bethnal Green tube disaster, the book was ghostwritten by author Kathleen McGurl but published under Brown’s name alone. After criticism from some readers, Brown publicly acknowledged McGurl’s contribution, writing on Instagram: “I couldn’t have done this without you!”
Despite the scrutiny, Brown’s popularity has endured. Now, with her and Bongiovi stepping into parenthood, attention is shifting back to her personal life – one she is determined to keep as private as possible.
For Bongiovi, fatherhood comes as he continues to build a career in modelling and fashion. The son of rock royalty, he has spoken little publicly about life in the spotlight, but his relationship with Brown has been marked by frequent displays of support and affection.
Their announcement reflects a growing trend among young celebrities to be candid about adoption, surrogacy, and alternative paths to family life. For Brown and Bongiovi, the focus is clear: prioritising their new daughter while balancing their careers in entertainment.
The couple’s message also struck a note of calm amid their otherwise hectic professional schedules: “We are beyond excited … in both peace and privacy.”
As the final season of Stranger Things prepares to wrap up one of the most successful franchises in Netflix history, Brown’s new role off-screen may prove her most important yet. For millions of fans who watched her grow from child star to global celebrity, her announcement represents not just a personal milestone but the start of a new era in her journey
