New leaks reveal Fold 7’s record-thin design, just days ahead of Samsung’s Unpacked event
Samsung’s next flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is set to break new ground in slimness and weight, according to leaks shared by veteran tech journalist Roland Quandt via WinFuture. Just days before Samsung’s July 9 Unpacked event, Quandt claims the Fold 7 will measure 8.9mm when folded and only 4.2mm unfolded, making it the thinnest model yet. It’s also expected to be the lightest Z Fold to date, tipping the scale at 216 grams.
The leak, reportedly sourced from official Samsung promotional materials, sheds light on both the Fold 7 and the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE models—Samsung’s other highly anticipated foldables.
Among the most eye-catching upgrades is the Flip 7’s new 4.1-inch cover screen, a significant jump from the Flip 6’s 3.4-inch outer display. Despite its larger battery, Quandt claims the Flip 7 will also be 70% thinner than its predecessor, thanks to a refined hinge design and internal layout.
Specs regarding storage options, battery capacity, and cameras remain under wraps, but early information confirms that Samsung is staying focused on portability, endurance, and usability across the new lineup.
While these leaked specs create buzz, what’s missing is just as intriguing—no new information has surfaced about the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, which Samsung teased in June. That model is expected to further push the boundaries of what a premium foldable can be, possibly integrating AI enhancements deeply into the hardware experience. Samsung had previously hinted at an AI-focused design philosophy that would bring smarter multitasking, adaptive UI, and even more integration with Galaxy ecosystem devices.

The Galaxy Unpacked event kicks off at 10AM ET (7:30PM IST) on July 9, and will be live-blogged by outlets including Engadget. The event is expected to unveil full specs, release dates, and pricing for the new foldables and possibly more AI-focused accessories or wearables.
Samsung is facing stiff competition in the foldable space from Motorola, Huawei, and OnePlus, all of whom have launched thinner, lighter models in recent months. However, with the Fold 7’s aggressively slim profile and the Flip 7’s refined build, Samsung appears ready to reclaim its dominance.
The foldables are also expected to be among the first Copilot+ certified phones, offering AI enhancements like real-time translation, summarisation, and generative editing directly on the device.
In an increasingly saturated smartphone market, hardware elegance and AI intelligence might be Samsung’s best weapons—and these latest leaks suggest they’re aiming to deliver both.
