Liam and Noel Gallagher ‘can’t stand each other’ despite Oasis comeback

The Gallagher brothers thrilled 75,000 fans in Cardiff — but stayed at separate hotels miles apart

Oasis may be back on stage, but behind the scenes, Liam and Noel Gallagher are keeping their distance—literally.

Despite sending 75,000 fans into raptures at their Cardiff reunion gigs, the famously feuding brothers reportedly stayed at different hotels nearly 20 miles apart. Liam checked into the sprawling five-star Celtic Manor Resort on the outskirts of Newport, while Noel opted for the Parkgate Hotel, a more discreet four-star just steps from the Principality Stadium.

It was the first time the pair had performed together since the band’s explosive 2009 break-up in Paris, which ended with a smashed guitar and a severed sibling bond. Though fans hoped time might have healed old wounds, signs suggest little has thawed in the years since.

Eyewitnesses at the gig on Friday night noticed the first cracks in the reunion’s smooth surface. When Oasis’s two-hour set wrapped, Liam made a quick exit, diving straight into a black SUV. Noel, ever the showman, lingered to wave to fans before strolling off with the rest of the band. That physical separation extended to their living arrangements — a detail not lost on the fans or the media.

Insiders say the division was no coincidence. “They don’t want to over-expose themselves to each other,” one source told The Sun on Sunday. “Having separate residences is the best option so they can relax in their own space. Everyone knows how delicate and fragile Liam and Noel’s relationship is.”

Another source was more blunt when speaking to The Mail on Sunday: “They can’t stand each other because they still have not forgiven each other. It’s all very frosty and awkward. We all doubt they’ll make it to Australia at this rate.”

On stage, the coolness was barely masked. Though they made a united entrance—walking out together and raising clasped hands to a roar of approval—they barely interacted for the rest of the show. The brothers kept 30 feet between them on stage and exchanged no visible words during the set.

Still, the performance itself was electric. One critic described the gig as “ridiculous, fantastic… and back where they belong.” The Cardiff crowds certainly agreed, singing along to every word as Oasis kicked off their much-hyped 41-date reunion tour.

The return of Oasis has stunned even long-time observers of the British music scene. When the brothers declared last August that “the guns have fallen silent,” few expected they’d follow through. But now, with sold-out dates across the UK, US, Australia and South America, the comeback is real—and potentially lucrative. Analysts at Birmingham City University estimate the band could earn up to £400 million in ticket sales and merchandise.

Among those joining the tour entourage is Noel’s daughter, 25-year-old model Anaïs Gallagher, who stayed with him at the Parkgate Hotel. Last month, the hotel teased the rumour of a celebrity guest on TikTok, posting, “Rumour has it a certain rock ‘n’ roll star is checking in ahead of the big gig.”

For now, the Oasis machine rolls on. But with a long tour ahead and old grudges still simmering, the real question isn’t whether they can sell out stadiums—it’s whether Liam and Noel can survive each other.
