Q. Have you ever faked enjoyment during sex?

The Lie I Told With My Body

Yes. I’ve faked it — more times than I’d like to admit. I did it to protect someone’s ego, to avoid awkwardness, or because I thought that’s what “good” lovers did. Smile, perform, get through it.

But every time I faked a moan or nodded when I wanted to pause, it felt like a tiny betrayal of myself. I wasn’t just lying to them — I was disconnecting from my own body. I was teaching myself that my comfort didn’t matter, that silence was safer than truth.

It took time, unlearning, and the right partner to stop pretending. Now, if I’m not into it, I say so. Gently, honestly, and without shame.

Because real intimacy can’t exist where performance takes priority. And honesty? It’s way sexier than any lie ever was.
