Former employee accuses WWE ex-chairman of disturbing misconduct, prompting a high-stakes legal battle

A bombshell lawsuit has been filed against Vince McMahon, the ex-chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), by a former employee, Janel Grant, who alleges horrifying instances of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and bribery. The lawsuit, filed on Thursday, claims McMahon promised career opportunities to Grant while subjecting her to sexual and physical abuse. The shocking accusations extend to the wrestling company and former head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis, with allegations of negligence, civil battery, and emotional distress.

Janel Grant began her tenure with WWE in June 2019, and the lawsuit details McMahon’s alleged solicitation of sexually explicit content from her. When Grant expressed reservations, she claims to have been reminded of McMahon’s ‘power and influence.’ The suit unveils explicit videos shared with a ‘world-famous athlete and former UFC Heavyweight Champion,’ allegedly orchestrated by McMahon. The athlete is said to have requested a video of Grant urinating, an act she managed to avoid.

The lawsuit includes disturbing claims of McMahon defecating on Grant during a sexual encounter, causing her physical injuries through the ‘forceful use of sex toys.’ Grant alleges a sexual assault incident in June 2021 at WWE headquarters in Connecticut, involving McMahon and Laurinaitis, despite her objections.

As media attention grew, the lawsuit contends that McMahon pressured Grant into signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and promised her $3 million to quell the scandal. Grant, reportedly in a state of mental defeat and fear from McMahon’s threats, signed the NDA. However, McMahon allegedly paid her $1 million before failing to fulfill the remaining payments. Grant is now seeking to void the NDA signed in 2022.

In response to the lawsuit, Vince McMahon’s spokesperson vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “replete with lies” and a “vindictive distortion of the truth.” The WWE, while taking Grant’s allegations seriously, clarified that McMahon doesn’t oversee their day-to-day operations. Grant’s attorney, Ann Callis, emphasized her client’s hope that the lawsuit will prevent further victimization of women.

This shocking scandal has sent ripples through the wrestling community, prompting internal investigations as the legal battle unfolds.
