Michigan state police discover woman believed to be a sex trafficking victim in dramatic rescue operation
In a dramatic turn of events, a woman missing for seven years has been found after her desperate screams led Michigan State Police to a motel where she was being held against her will.
The woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, vanished in 2017 but managed to make contact with her step-mother, revealing her harrowing situation. Police were alerted to her presence at the Evergreen Motel in Michigan after receiving reports of ‘blood curdling screams’.
Located in Inkster, approximately 32 kilometres from Detroit, the motel became the scene of a rescue operation as troopers responded to the distress calls. Upon breaking into the room, they discovered the woman alone but in possession of guns and a cell phone.
Fortunately, the woman appeared physically unharmed and was immediately taken to Beaumont Dearborn hospital for evaluation. She has since been reunited with her family and is undergoing specialist counselling.
While a suspect has been identified, no arrests have been made yet. Michigan State Police are actively investigating the case, focusing on the possibility of human trafficking or domestic violence.
The woman believed to be in her mid-thirties, is now cooperating with detectives, shedding light on the circumstances of her disappearance and subsequent captivity.
This rescue highlights the ongoing efforts to combat sex trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers faced by those coerced into such situations and the importance of swift action in response to distress calls.
