On Call Her Daddy, Victoria stresses “communication” as reports detail a months-long family rift
Victoria Beckham has confronted the storm around her family head-on, admitting a “Brooklyn dilemma” and insisting “communication is key” as speculation intensifies over a rift with her eldest son and his wife, Nicola Peltz.
In a frank appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the designer and former Spice Girl reflected on how she and husband David Beckham are navigating a period of strain with their once close-knit clan. Reports suggest Victoria and David, both 50, have not spoken to Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, for months.
Pressed on how she has “stepped back” to let her grown-up children choose their own paths, Victoria struck a measured note. “We’re such a close family,” she said. “Communication is key and we always let them know that anything they want to talk about, this is a safe forum. That’s really important. But they’ve got to go on their journeys themselves.” Asked how she and David manage shifting dynamics, she repeated the theme: “Again, it’s just about communicating… they’re all very different. They all like to do different things.”
The podcast also touched on historic headlines involving David, with Victoria being asked about his past with former PA Rebecca Loos. Her appearance arrives amid a flurry of stories painting a complicated family picture: rumours that billionaire heiress Nicola sits at the centre of the discord; claims she encouraged Brooklyn to distance himself from his parents; and the reported no-expense vow-renewal earlier this year, where David and Victoria were not on the guestlist.
Further strain was suggested when Brooklyn and Nicola missed David’s 50th birthday celebration in May, fuelling talk that the couple were not speaking to his parents. Around the same time, whispers surfaced of a bust-up between Brooklyn and brother Romeo over Romeo’s ex, model Kim Turnbull. Tabs hinted Brooklyn briefly dated Kim before meeting Nicola in 2019, a suggestion Kim firmly rejected in June. Posting on Instagram, she said their link was a “school friendship at age 16” and that they have “never been romantically involved in ANY capacity at ANY point.”
A source has since alleged the “huge rift” continues, describing relationships as strained and uncertain, including whether Brooklyn remains in contact with younger sister Harper Seven. According to that account, Brooklyn and Nicola are intent on a “peaceful, drama-free life,” preferring to let tensions “settle naturally” rather than pursuing a rapid fix.
For her part, Victoria has avoided inflammatory language and recently offered an olive-toned nod to her son at the London premiere of her Netflix documentary, Victoria Beckham, which includes a brief appearance from Brooklyn and Nicola. The gesture did little to cool the chatter, but it signalled an attempt to keep the door open.
Brooklyn also addressed the noise, briefly, during a September interview with the Daily Mail. Brushing aside the speculation, he said: “Me and her, we just do our thing, we just keep our heads down and work. And we’re happy.” It was a concise statement of intent from the aspiring photographer turned budding chef, and a reminder that, despite the headlines, the couple are focused on their own unit.
Whether the current impasse eases remains to be seen. The competing narratives — vow-renewal snubs, birthday no-shows, social-media clarifications, and podcast confessions — have created a picture as busy as the Beckhams’ public lives. Yet Victoria’s message remained simple and consistent: create a safe space, keep talking, and allow adult children to make their own choices.
As the family navigates this unusually public chapter, one line from Victoria’s interview lingers: communication matters, but so does letting loved ones “go on their journeys themselves.” For now, that is the truce — and the test — at the heart of Brand Beckham’s most personal storyline.
