US government alarmed: UFO strategy poses clear national security threat

Department of Defense criticized for lack of comprehensive approach to unidentified anomalous phenomena

The US government is intensifying its focus on the potential threat posed by UFOs, asserting that the current strategy jeopardizes national security. Despite the scepticism surrounding blurry footage of mysterious objects in the sky, recent revelations during a US Congress hearing on UFOs have led to the acknowledgement of genuine concerns.

On January 25, the US Department of Defense (DoD) issued a damning report, pointing out deficiencies in their approach to UFOs, or as officially referred to, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP). The statement contends that the DoD lacks a comprehensive strategy to address potential threats from UAPs.

This revelation may come as a surprise to many in the US, given the heightened interest in UAPs in recent years. The surge in curiosity about extraterrestrial life was fueled by claims from individuals such as US Air Force officer David Grusch, who asserted that the government has a UAP recovery program, collecting ‘non-human’ spacecraft and their ‘dead pilots.’

Responding to the growing interest, an investigation was initiated to explore the security implications of UAPs. The Office of Inspector General (OIG) released a previously classified report titled ‘Evaluation of the DoD’s Actions Regarding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena’ in August.

The declassified summary of the report states that the OIG found the DoD’s lack of a coordinated approach to UAPs could pose a threat to military forces and national security. It also highlighted the absence of an overarching UAP policy, leaving uncertainties regarding the identification and mitigation of national security and flight safety threats.

Contrary to Hollywood-inspired fears of an Independence Day-style scenario, the concerns are more focused on potential surveillance attempts by hostile foreign powers through UAPs. Inspector General Robert P Storch emphasized transparency, stating, “Given the significant public interest in how the DoD is addressing UAPs, we are releasing this unclassified summary to be as transparent as possible with the American people about our oversight work on this important issue.”

In response to the report’s findings, 11 recommendations have been proposed, including the establishment of a policy outlining responsibilities, requirements, and coordination procedures for all groups involved in the country’s defence.
