Norfolk police confirm knife wounds as cause of death for sisters Jasmin Kuczynska (12) and Natasha Kuczynska (8)

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the deaths of two young girls, Jasmin Kuczynska (12) and Natasha Kuczynska (8), discovered alongside two adults at a property in Costessey, near Norwich, have been confirmed as homicides. Norfolk Police revealed tonight that a Home Office post-mortem examination conducted on the girls determined they both sustained fatal knife wounds to their neck.

The tragic incident unfolded on Friday morning when the bodies of Jasmin and Natasha were found alongside their father, Bartlomiej Kuczynski (45), and his sister-in-law, Kanticha Noon (36). Previous post-mortem examinations on the adults, conducted on Sunday, established that Kanticha died due to stab wounds to the neck, while Bartlomiej succumbed to a stab wound to the neck.

Detectives have officially declared the deaths of Kanticha, Jasmin, and Natasha as murders, with Bartlomiej’s death not being treated as suspicious. Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths, and investigations will continue for the coronial process.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess, leading the investigation, expressed the profound shock and heartbreak surrounding the incident. He extended condolences to the family and the wider community, acknowledging the traumatic loss they are facing.

The Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) has been notified of the incident, primarily due to a 999 call made by a man at the address before the tragedy. The call, made on 14 December, did not result in officer deployment, and it was related to a missing person enquiry.

It has been reported that Bartlomiej had been dealing with mental health challenges for several months. The IOPC indicated that the initial 999 call, where the father expressed concerns about his mental state, led call handlers to advise seeking medical advice.

As the community grapples with this devastating event, Norfolk Police will continue to provide reassurance patrols in the area, and a cordon will remain in place at the address for further examination.
