In a shocking turn of events, Norwich police have come under scrutiny after admitting they failed to promptly respond to a 999 call from a residence where a father and his two young daughters tragically lost their lives.

The authorities forcibly entered the house in Costessey, near Norwich, just before 7 am yesterday following a distress call from a concerned member of the public. The heart-wrenching discovery revealed the lifeless bodies of two young girls, a 45-year-old man identified as Bartlomiej Kuczynski, and a 36-year-old woman whose identity remains undisclosed.

Details emerged that the police had indeed received a call from a man at the address at 6 am. However, a critical lapse occurred as officers were not dispatched until a second call from another member of the public shortly before 7 am. In light of this failure, Norfolk Police has taken the unusual step of referring itself to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

A spokesperson for the force conveyed, “Officers had been called to the address shortly before 7 am after a member of the public called police to raise concerns for the welfare of people inside. Police arrived on the scene at around 7:15 am and forced entry to the address, finding the bodies of two young girls, a 45-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman.”

The area around Allan Bedford Crescent remains cordoned off, with ongoing forensic investigations within the property. Detectives are actively engaging in house-to-house inquiries, speaking with witnesses, and scrutinising local CCTV footage.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Burgess, leading the investigation, expressed gratitude to the local community for their unwavering support. He acknowledged the concerns within the community but reassured that the focus of the inquiry remains on the isolated incident at the address.

While post-mortem examinations are pending to determine the cause of death for all four individuals, the police maintain that there is no ongoing investigation into other locations. The incident is currently regarded as an isolated tragedy, leaving the community grappling with the profound loss and unanswered questions surrounding the devastating events.
