Local emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, administering life-saving measures before transporting Gardner to Casa Grande Banner hospital. Despite their efforts, Gardner succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a devastated community mourning his loss.
The incident took place at Skydive Arizona in Eloy, Arizona, the world’s largest skydiving center, where Gardner’s wife had previously worked. In response to the tragedy, Skydive Arizona issued a statement confirming an ongoing investigation into the accident.
“The cause of the accident is under investigation, and further statements will be withheld until the investigation concludes,” the company stated, expressing condolences to Gardner’s loved ones.
Authorities, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and local law enforcement, are conducting inquiries to ascertain the circumstances leading to Gardner’s parachute failure. Additionally, the skydiving community in Eloy is reeling from the loss, with Vice Mayor Sara Curtis expressing deep sorrow and offering condolences to Gardner’s family.
This tragic incident comes in the wake of another aviation disaster in the Eloy Desert, where four individuals lost their lives in a hot air balloon accident. Investigations into both incidents are ongoing, emphasizing the importance of safety measures in aerial activities.
