Customers receive one free packet with items from ‘new cantina chicken menu’
Taco Bell has unveiled a new sauce offering at its locations, but it comes with a price tag, depending on the order. While traditional condiment packets like mild, hot, fire, and diablo sauces remain complimentary, the newly introduced avocado verde salsa is priced at 20 cents per packet, unless customers opt for specific menu items.
According to a press release from the fast-food chain earlier this month, one packet of avocado verde salsa is included with each order from the “Cantina chicken menu.” This menu features items such as the cantina chicken soft taco, cantina chicken crispy taco, cantina chicken burrito, cantina chicken quesadilla, and cantina chicken bowl. Additional packets beyond the complimentary one incur an extra charge.

The introduction of the cantina chicken menu, along with the avocado verde salsa, began with a launch for Taco Bell Rewards members on March 14, followed by a full rollout to all customers on March 21.
Taco Bell has yet to respond to inquiries regarding whether this marks the first instance of charging for sauce packets and the rationale behind the pricing compared to other complimentary condiments. Additionally, it remains unclear if the cantina chicken menu, inclusive of the avocado verde salsa, is a limited-time offering at Yum! Brands-operated restaurants.
